Following sneakerinas and sock boots, another hybrid shoe comes to the fore: clog sandals are the latest fashion amalgam to captivate the street-style set. As their name suggests, they are part clog, part sandal – the trad clog silhouette being the most dominant of the two, defined by curvaceous wooden soles and a studded edges.

The sandal element rids the clog upper and replaces it with a single strap across the top of the foot (and sometimes a slingback on the heel) – in the case of Ancient Greek Sandals, its Omonia style has a directional “jelly” strap, available in clear, caramel and black. Miu Miu’s clog sandals – as seen on Ms. Prada’s spring/summer 2025 runway, paired with sweat band-esque sockettes – take on a similar shape, with a patent strap in black, white, red and begonia pink, or a suede strap in cinnamon.

While new versions have come in thick and fast – which, in the spirit of buzzy fashion trends, have quickly coined “granny shoes” – orthopaedic-focused brand Scholl was original endorser of the clog sandal movement. The 70-year-old Pescura silhouette, beloved by Audrey Hepburn and Twiggy, has now captured a new-gen audience, which counts Lily-Rose Depp among its greatest fans. “They value comfort as a foundational element of their wardrobe, selecting Scholl shoes for their ability to combine ergonomic benefits with on-trend aesthetics,” Yves Guy Coulter, Scholl’s chief brand officer, previously told Vogue. Proof of the Pescura’s fashion kudos? Former creative director of Balenciaga, Demna, collaborated with the brand for pre-fall 2025, and released a series of mules and boots that celebrated Scholl’s commitment to comfort. This is a hybrid that has legs.
